[attr="class","mouths1"]Heronstar's reply was clipped, as to be expected. Coatistar angled her ears to catch it, though she did not care. She was perfectly used to the masked hostility that cooled her tone. After all, moons of much similar greeting and acknowledgements had summed much of her early existence in the clan. Truly, though they acted otherwise, the savannah was still unconvinced that their opinions of her had truly shifted. And so she remained calm, numb, in the face of Heronstar.
The Bayouclan leader's position on the matter was clear. Against this entire situation, and clearly ruffled, however...Coatistar was not blind. She could tell, or perhaps it was merely her paranoia assuming, that the other leader thought Canopyclan was to blame for this. Coatistar's eyes narrowed, eyeing the molly with a cool criticism, irritation echoing in the flicking of her tail.
When Heronstar had finished speaking, Coatistar spared a glance toward her warrior, ears angling for him to approach. Sheepishly, the tom flanked her, but did not speak. She returned her attention to Heronstar. "I believe my warrior has already made his decision, though I decided it could be saved for this meeting," she offered briskly, disapproval gleaming in her amber eyes to the way Heronstar implied he was the only one at fault. They both were, it was something that Coatistar would not deny. Perhaps Heronstar was simply not wise to perspective and diplomacy, despite being several moons older.
At Coatistar's signal, the young tom seemed to prepare himself, before speaking. His gaze locked directly onto one of the Bayouclan cats, a young molly, before dashing back to the leaders. "I want to stay!" he blurted, before adding a little more calmly, "that is, I would never let my feelings get in the way of my duty. My loyalty is to my clan, and to my leader."
As the tom cast an apologetic yet decisive glance toward his supposed lover, a look of satisfaction edged into Coatistar's neutral facade. She gestured the tom to step back, and gave him a nod of approval. "You will remain a warrior of Canopyclan, but I cannot simply disregard this matter. Interclan relationships are strictly prohibited, and so you have broken our code. You will have to regain my trust, and that of your clanmates." Cowed, the tom nodded fervently in understanding, bowing his head respectfully.
Content with her warrior's decision, and understanding that he would not escape this situation without consequence, Coatistar turned away from him. With his piece said, for now, her warrior could fade into the background, so long as he remained in her presence. Ears flicking, she cast a pointed glance toward Heronstar, before turning her attention questioningly toward the other codebreaker. "Well? He is not the only cat to blame, so speak."
